Governor Signs New Teacher Licensing Rules

03.30.10

Governor Mitch Daniels has signed new licensing requirements the state says will ensure new teachers will be experts in the subjects they teach. The changes include provisions to help adults in math, science and engineering careers become teachers and provide more flexibility for teachers to update licenses without having to spend thousands of dollars in college tuition. Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Bennett says the new regulations are designed to increase education standards.
