Health Care Reform Bill Could Mean Job Losses

03.23.10

The director of Ball State University's Center for Business and Economic Research is among the experts predicting some job losses as a result of federal health care reform. Michael Hicks says the bill will likely result in companies thinking twice about hiring new employees. Also included in the bill is language that gives the federal government the authority to originate student loans. Fishers Town Council President Scott Faultless says Sallie Mae could still service loans, but it may be forced to eliminate about one-third of its work force.
