Lawmakers Delay Unemployment Tax Hikes, End Session

Governor Mitch Daniels says members of the Indiana legislature have just completed a "defensive, Hippocratic session." He points to the deal to delay implementation of a hike in employer contributions to the unemployment insurance system by one year as one of the key accomplishments. The tax increases had been slated to take effect next month at a cost to Hoosier businesses of around $400 million.
