Locally elected officials will be attending sessions to contribute to development of a State of the Workforce Report for Workforce Region 4. Representatives from Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Miami, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren and White County are expected to participate. Fulton and Wabash County officials will also be involved as part of the WIRED region. The sessions will be held on Tuesday, August 12 in Kokomo and Delphi and on Thursday August 14 in Lafayette and Attica. Locally elected officials and other community representatives will participate in discussions led by Graham Toft, PHD. Toft is founder and principal of Growth Economics, Inc. He has a long-standing interest in manufacturing-led economic growth. He has consulted to more than 50 local areas and five state governments on strategic economic development, policy planning, development finance, workforce strategies, and small business development. The State of the Workforce Report is being developed at the request of the Economic Growth Region 4 Workforce Board: Alliance 4 Advancement by Tecumseh Area Partnership, Inc. The purpose of the document is to examine the issues surrounding are current workforce as they effect the region’s economic development. Following research and input from a variety of audiences, the final report will be completed and made pubic by mid 2009.
