Two employees of Indiana Dept. of Disabled American Verterans recognized for outstanding achievement

The Indiana Department of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) has recently recognized the outstanding achievements of two veterans' employment specialists from Workforce Region 4, for exemplary service to help veterans obtain meaningful jobs and make their lives more productive. The DAV honored the professional accomplishments of Lisa Chiavola as the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist of the Year for Indiana and Cindy Christensen, as Indiana’s Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER) of the year. Ms. Chiavola served in the Marine Corps from 1991-2003. Commenting on the receipt of the award, she stated, “I was very surprised by the honor, and enjoy assisting regional Vets and serving them in their employment needs.” Ms. Christensen is also a veteran having served in the US Air Force from 1991-1995. Both have been employed in Veterans Services with Workforce Region 4 for almost 2 years. The women work out of the Howard County WorkOne location and serve Cass, Howard, Miami, and Tipton County. They were nominated by Senior Vice Commander of the Indiana Department of DAV, Bob Ladd. Mr. Ladd stated that both awardees “have done an outstanding job of assisting veterans with employment and training needs. They have developed good working relationships with the county Veterans’ Service Officers as well employers in each of the four counties they serve.” Through case management and counseling services DVOP/LVER personnel help veterans by providing job leads and job training opportunities for disabled and other veterans and serving as intermediaries between employers and veterans. They also develop linkages with other agencies to promote maximum employment opportunities and specialized services for veterans. The Regional Workforce Board, Alliance 4 Advancement is pleased to congratulate these employees for their success and recognition from the Indiana DAV.
