House Passes Property Tax Caps Measure

01.12.10

Members of the Indiana House have overwhelmingly passed a constitutional amendment to cap property taxes. The vote means the measure will likely be on the ballot in November for final approval. The bill is expected to be passed by the Indiana Senate, which could take up the measure today. Indiana Representative Tom Saunders (R-54), the only Republican to vote against the caps in both 2008 and 2010, warns the caps will tie the hands of local government.
