State Moves Forward With K-12 Cuts

12.29.09

Governor Mitch Daniels says K-12 schools will see their funding reduced by $297 million over the next year. The cuts will begin with the January payment from the state. Daniels says the reduction amounts to 2.7 percent of the total $11 billion schools receive from all funding sources. The State Board of Education will implement cuts based on a checklist. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett tells our partners at Network Indiana/WIBC more cuts in 2011 are possible.
