Senate Committee Approves Hold on New Unemployment Taxes

12.09.09

The Indiana Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee has passed a plan that would delay until 2011 new payroll taxes on employers to help restore the state's bankrupt unemployment trust fund. The approval means the measure could be voted on next month when lawmakers begin the 2010 General Assembly session. Indiana Manufacturers Association Vice President Mark Cahoon tells Network Indiana/WIBC a delay is the right move.
